Here are a few things we'd recommend looking for.

Choose Experience

There are plenty of talented musicians around, but corporate events are very different from pubs, clubs and festivals.

Corporate functions usually involve speeches, presentations, awards, video content and tight schedules. A good corporate band understands it's part of a much bigger event and works alongside event planners, venues and AV companies to help everything run smoothly.

Experience doesn't just make the music better. It makes the whole evening less stressful.

Think About Your Guests

One mistake we see quite often is choosing entertainment that only appeals to one age group.

Most corporate events include guests from their twenties through to their sixties and beyond. The best bands know how to move naturally from Motown and classic rock to current hits without losing the dance floor.

It's not about playing your favourite songs. It's about giving your guests a night they'll remember.

Choose the Right Size Band

Bigger isn't always better.

A six piece band can be perfect for many events, while a larger gala may benefit from extra singers and a horn section to create a bigger sound and more visual impact.

Ask to see footage from real events. Read reviews. Browse recent photos.

Do guests look like they're genuinely enjoying themselves? Does the dance floor stay busy? Does the band look professional?

Those things usually tell you much more than a perfectly edited highlight reel.

Talk About the Schedule

Event timings often change.

Dinner runs late.

Speeches take longer than expected.

Awards can overrun.

An experienced corporate band should be able to adapt without creating extra stress for the organiser.

Before the event, discuss arrival times, soundcheck, performance times, breaks and any special moments where music is required.

Don't Forget Stage Space

A larger band needs enough room to perform comfortably and safely.

As a guide, a full show band works well on a stage around 16 feet by 16 feet, although smaller stages can often work with careful planning.
