My new wife and I are two of the band's biggest fans. They just tore the house down at our wedding with everything from classics (eg Billie Jean, Don't Stop Believing) to the latest hits (eg Blurred Lines, Get Lucky) and everything in between. Between sets the band remarkably learned an entirely new song on the fly and performed it for the first time at the request of some of my friends (Ginuwine's Pony, sure it's like 3 notes on the electronic keyboard, but still). In addition to their 2 part set, they played an opening song to introduce the wedding party, one for the cake cutting (actually a beautiful acoustic version of Florence and the Machine's Cosmic Love), two songs for the wedding games, one each for the garter and bouquet toss, and one for the first dance.
The sound of the 10 piece brass band is so impressive and had our guests dancing all night. The two female leads are ultra talented, and no one can match the enthusiasm of their band leader, Marty. Our venue featured another wedding reception that had a DJ, and I'm told by some interlopers that their party fizzled. Before you consider another band or going with a DJ over a band, I'd check out Ten Souljers, their public performance schedule is on their facebook page, and if they are working a bunch of private events, if you contact them, they will try to get you in to watch them.
On the business side of things, Marty is simply the best. He was the least stressful part of the wedding. Ultra responsive from his smartphone, a refreshing contrast to some of our other vendors who we had to stalk then beat over with a stick to get an answer. He is happy to accommodate any special song requests and where he couldn't he was quick to suggest alternatives.
I'd recommend Ten Souljers to anyone for any corporate event, wedding, bar mitzvah, whatever.
